“Cyprea: la rete di Afrodite”
Inauguration and press conference – Friday 21st February, 5:00 p.m.
The National Archaeological Museum of Reggio Calabria is pleased to present ‘Cyprea: la rete di Afrodite’ (Cyprea: Aphrodite’s net), a fascinating exhibition that intertwines archaeology and contemporary art, creating a bridge between past and present through the works of eight Italian and Cypriot artists.
Organised by Prof. Giorgio Calcara, with artistic direction by Stefania Pennacchio and scientific direction by Fulvia Toscano, the exhibition explores the symbolism of the Cyprea shell, an emblem of fertility and protection since ancient times, and its link to the cult of Aphrodite, goddess of love and beauty. An evocative journey that combines myth, history and contemporary creativity.
The event is supported by the Ministero della Cultura, the Embassy of Cyprus in Rome, the Region of Sicily, the Naxos/Taormina Archaeological Park, Naxos Legge, the Ministry of Culture of Cyprus, The Phoenicians’ Route – European Council and Leucò Art Gallery.
We look forward to seeing you at the inauguration and press conference on Friday 21 February at 5:00 pm. A unique opportunity to discover an original dialogue between archaeological heritage and contemporary art.
