“D as Djambèe – Djambèe in African music HighLife”, Show Concert of the Afro-European music group WACG
The Summer Nights at MArRC under the banner of happiness and the encounter between peoples and cultures, without spatial and temporal boundaries are enriching by another appointment, for the “… rEstate al MArRC!” Program, in collaboration with the Museum of Musical Instrument.
On Thursday, August 9th, at 9.00 pm, the Afro-European musical group WACG (Wise Africa Cultural Group) will perform in the Show Concert “D come Djambèe – Il Djembèe in African music HighLife”.
The event is on the calendar of the celebrations of 2018 European Year of Cultural Heritage and in the framework of a synergy with institutional partners for the enhancement of the Calabrian, Mediterranean and European cultural heritage. The Show Concert is part of the “Dall’Arpa alla Zampogna” project of the Museum of Musical Instrument.
Introduce: the director of MArRC, Carmelo Malacrino, and the president of the Museum of Musical Instrument, Demetrio Spagna.
On the “stage under the stars” of the National Archaeological Museum of Reggio Calabria, accompanied by master Demetrio Spain (soprano saxophone, idiophones) and by the president of gWACG, Blessing Ajuka Ngozi (vocals, percussion idiophones), will be: Emmanuel, electric piano and keyboards, djembèe; Clifford, electric bass and djembèe; Ozas, a drums and djembèe; Martin, voice, dance and jembèe; Morin, voice, dance, idiophones.
The musical pieces performed: Testing the microphon, Show your talent, Jagajagajò, Edibonnè, Juan moria, Arabankoo, Embula mandeghi. “Ancient Calabria was a place of welcome and integration, such as it is today” the director Malacrino says . “Many peoples from Africa have given their contribution to give life to the Calabrian culture of our time. Music has always been an instrument of mutual knowledge and peace over the centuries”.
