They call it “the green gold of Calabria”, that is the bergamot, the typical citrus from Reggio, which is the symbol of the City, together with the Riace Bronzes. At the “prince of citrus fruits” the Marino Foundation has named a prestigious cultural-artistic-tourist review: the Bergamotto Art Festival, which promotes three days of literary encounters at the MArRC in place Paolo Orsi, this year, on Friday, August 31th, on Saturday September 1st and on Sunday September 2nd, starting from 6 pm.

For the second appointment, highly anticipated by specialists and lovers of history and literature but also by the general public, the “Incursions in the Ancient World” are being scheduled by the writer and historian Valerio Massimo Manfredi, with the extraordinary participation of Michele Placido, who is going to read passages from literary classics. From the wonderful wanderings of Ulysses to the supernatural dream of power of Alexander the Great, to the greatness of thought and political action of Julius Caesar, through the technological inventions of antiquity and the events which led to the birth and diffusion of the Roman Empire, the perilous movements of the Carthaginians to the ends of the world, to get to our days, to the discovery of the majestic Riace Bronzes, will be “the stages” of the journey of time led by the well-known intellectual and historical popularizer Valerio Massimo Manfredi, with the precious contribution by Michele Placido.
