“Metànoia”, the Concert of the Band of the Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria closes the 2018 Christmas Program

The rich program of events for Christmas 2018 at the MArRC closes in music and beauty with the concert “Metànoia” (in Greek, it means “Change”) of the Band of the Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria established by the Royal Philharmonic Academy of Gerace, on Sunday, January 13th, at 5.00 pm. It will be hosted in the welcoming space of Piazza Paolo Orsi, under the gaze of the ancient memory of the Riace Bronzes, between the festive Christmas Tree and the extraordinary artistic nativity scene by Domenico Carteri.

The orchestra, gold medal of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of St. George, is directed by master Liliya Byelyera, a Ukrainian of origin and formation.

In the poster, the motto of the Royal Academy, which summarizes the meaning of the concert and the civil service through music: “Know the history of your land, so that in fidelity and youth can build the future”.

The musical program is varied and articulated to create a highly evocative cultural and emotional atmosphere, between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Chopin “warms up” the environment and the hearts, in opening, Offenback and Strauss greet guests with cheerful Can Can and Polka.
