Santa Claus at the MArRC
The MArRC offers a Christmas of wonders for young and old, in collaboration with partners for the enhancement of cultural heritage museum and Calabria. On Tuesday, December 11th, an unmissable event for children is coming: Santa Claus himself will welcome the young visitors, from 3.00 to 7.00 pm, for giving an unforgettable afternoon!
The gigantic Fir tree overlooked by the majestic and fascinating Riace Bronzes, in Piazza Paolo Orsi, will be the magical setting for a wonderful experience. Little boys and girls will be able to take beautiful photos together with the legendary gentleman dressed in white and red, with the famous long pointed hat with ponpon and the soft beard, which tradition represents on a sled to bring gifts on Christmas Eve.
Some historical sources tell that he is a really existent character: Saint Nicholas, protector of the children, who was bishop of Myra, in present-day Turkey, in the III century AD. Other sources date the myth of Santa Claus even in antiquity, coming back to the god Saturn, for whose festivities at the end of December, in the winter solstice, it was the Romans’ habit to exchange gifts.
Next appointment is on Thursday, December 13th.
