“The Intellighenzia to power”: Pythagoras and Pericles, conference of the historian Pasquale Amato
It is on Thursday, June 28th at 9 pm with the conference of the historic Pasquale Amato on “The Intellighenzia to the power. The happy seasons of Pythagoras in Crotone and Pericles in Athens” the first appointment with the events on the terrace for the extraordinary opening in the Summer Nights of Thursday and Saturday from 8 to 11 pm, in collaboration with the International Center for Writers of Calabria.
It is the third and last meeting of the trilogy “Between Athens and Sparta. Journey in the diverse Greek world of poleis “, within the Global History Cycle by professor Amato. Speakers: the director of MArRC Carmelo Malacrino and the president of CIS Rosita Loreley Borruto.
“The leadership of Pythagoras at Crotone (530 – 505 BC) and of Pericles at Athens (462 – 429 BC) marked happy political seasons of the Hellenic civilization”, Amato says. “It was not casual the historical coincidence of those governments and the maximum splendor achieved by the Greek poleis and Athens, that was the cultural, artistic and moral capital”.
