The Star of the Magi. Conference of the scientist Angela Misiano

The weekend comes on of the “light” of knowledge, between history, science and faith. On Friday, December 14th, at 5.30 pm, Angela Misiano, scientific director of Planetarium Pythagoras, will hold a conference on the theme “The Star of the Magi”.

The director of MArRC Carmelo Malacrino will introduce.

The meeting is an opportunity to research the scientific foundations of the Christmas story in the Christian tradition. In the biblical story, in fact, it was a comet to guide the Magi from the Far East to the place where Jesus was born. The star suddenly stopped in the sky at the grotto of the Nativity, to indicate the arrival at destination of the long journey.

What are the scientific bases of this event? When did it happen? And what star was it? Was it really a comet? A rising star? Or a combination of planets? “I will tell the story of Christmas and Comet, explaining why we celebrate on December 25th and what’s true in this story, between science, faith and magic of this anniversary” the scholar says.
